Disney, Indiana – Episode 96 – Oswald Rabbit of Mars

In today’s episode, Tracey and Scott continue their year-long examination of the cartoon shorts of the Walt Disney Company with a look at Oswald the Lucky Rabbit is March’s Salute to Shorts segment. They’ll discuss the history of the character, review some of the shorts, look how Disney lost and then regained this classic character.

Tracey then stops by Belle’s Books to share her thoughts on the book Walt Before Mickey: Disney’s Early Years, 1919-1928 by Timothy S Susanin. It’s a book that we’ve been using as a reference for the Salute to Shorts segments in 2012.

Then our hosts will take a look at the troubled history of John Carter, Disney’s newest live action film in theaters now. They will cover the long and strange development history of this project, Disney’s current involvement and share their thoughts on this film.

Disney, Indiana – Episode 076 – Aye, but We’re Loved by Our Mommies and Dads

In today’s episode, Tracey and Scott reach the end of their Disney pirate adventure by looking at the 2011 release Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. They discuss how the film came together, who came back and who didn’t, and share their thoughts on the film.

They also spend a little more time in Belle’s Books and review The Art of On Stranger Tides from 2001 and the book the film was loosely based upon, 1987’s On Stranger Tides by Tim Powers.

After a stop into Disney, Indiana’s music store – Silly Symphony Shoppe – our hosts talk about the music of Pirates of the Caribbean and share some of their favorite songs.

Our Hosts then get help from some town residents who share their thoughts on the new Pirates of the Caribbean Lego Video game. Scott and Tracey wrap up the episode by welcoming a new resident to town.

Scott and Tracey are getting ready to see the touring company production of Mary Poppins by picking their top five songs from Disney Broadway shows.

They also play part two of their interview with Jay and Heather of 1976 Tron Court in Disney, Indiana helping them to prepare for their first trip to Walt Disney World.

Then Tracey reviews a book entitled How Does the Show Go On: An Introduction to the Theater by Thomas Schumacher and Jeff Kurtti, published by Disney Editions November 2007.
